新概念英语词汇：Food-grade lye 食用级碱水
继伊利奶粉汞超标事件之后，又一家乳品企业出现质量问题。近日有消费者在微博上爆料光明部分优倍奶混入了清洗用碱水，随后光明乳业在其官网发布解释说明，并召回产品。

An investigation conducted by the bureau Wednesday found that food-grade lye that was used to clean pipes had leaked into and contaminated a production line at one of the company's plants on Monday, a bureau spokesman said early Thursday.
上海市质监局发言人周四早上称，该局周三对此事做了调查，发现光明乳业某厂周一进行生产时，不慎将用来清洗管道的食用级碱水渗入生产线上的牛奶中。
上面报道中的food-grade lye就是食用级碱水，食用碱常被用作食品curing agent(固化剂)和肉类tenderizer(嫩化剂)。食用碱不同于工业用碱，后者腐蚀性极强，一般用做drain opener(下水疏通剂)和detergent(清洁剂)。
从2008年melamine milk(三聚氰胺奶)事件开始，国内几大乳企频频爆出过质量门。从去年年底的蒙牛牛奶aflatoxin(黄曲霉毒素，一种致癌物)超标，再到近期伊利baby formula(婴儿配方奶粉)和whey powder(乳清粉)含excessive mercury(汞超标)，让国人对国产乳制品的信心急速下滑。
