　　58. contrast of, contrast between ，contrast to. contrast with表示对比，对照。这些短语主要需注意的是词性与介词搭配之间的关系。contrast 用作动词时，可说contrast X with Y .contrast X and Y ，X contrast (s) with Y。用作名词时，可说 a/the contrast between/of X and Y , X make ( s ) a contrast to/ with Y , by contrast with X , in contrast to/with X。

　　58. accustom to , adapt to , adjust to, used to , acclimatize to ,habituate to 这些动词短语都可以表示“ (使) 习惯于”。其中acclimatize to 和habituate to 两短语的动词是及物动词，多用于比较正式的书面语，habituate to更多地以被动形式出现：James has not become acclimatized to long hair. 詹姆士还不习惯留长发。He has habituated himself to working till midnight. 他已经习惯于工作到深夜。它们一般可用accustom to 来换用。

　　accustom to是表示 “使习惯于” 的一般说法，也常以被动形式出现：We are accustomed to working hard. “我们对努力工作习以为常。”

　　used to 用指 “习惯于” 时，used 是动词过去分词形式，也就是说该短语以被动形式使用： I’m not used to getting up early. 我不习惯于早起。

　　adapt to表示一种能适应不同情况的能力，不是严格意义上的“习惯于” 之意，动词adapt有及物和不及物两种用法： The young man from the countryside adapted well to life in the big city. “这个农村青年很能适应大城市的生活。

　　adjust to 强调为适应某种不同情况而进行自我调节，动词adjust to也有及物和不及物两种用法：The eyes needed several minutes to adjust to the dimness. 眼睛需要几分钟时间来适应昏暗。
