I’dlike to talk about my friend Tim, whom I met in English corner. He is a talentin language learning, particularly in English. He has started his Englishlearning since kindergarten and can now fluently communicate with foreigners.Whenever I’m with him, he will give me some useful tips of English learning andthat’s a big reason I enjoy being with him. Plus, he’s also a young expert ondistinctive cultures. He has traveled tens of countries, and shares me hisacquisitions and encounters during every trip. That feels like I am also on atrip. Whenever I hang out with this young man, I feel myself, like a sponge,constantly absorbing knowledge.

Theperson I enjoy talking with is my grandfather. First, my grandfather usuallytells me about his life experience. From his experience, I learn a lot. Thiswill save me a lot of time on exploring on my own. He teaches me how to be abetter person by telling his experiences which educate me a lot. Second of all,the way he talks is humorous. I never feel bored when I hear him talking abouthis life experiences. Although he went through a dark time when he was little,he always could make that story fun rather than miserable.

Listening:

Response:

Theletter proposes that university professors should be encouraged to hold moreclasses outside. However, the man disagrees and believes that it will only leadto the opposite effects than what the letter states. His first reason is thathe does not believe that a change of scenery would help students focus and bemore efficient in class, but would only lead to more distractions. Studentsmight get distracted by friends passing by, or birds chirping in the air. Hissecond reason is that there are not enough seats in the main lawn area, andmany students would have to end up sitting on the ground. Sitting on the lawnmakes it harder for students to take notes on laptops, too. That is why the manbelieves taking university classes outside is not the best idea.

4.

Listening:

Listening:

1.学生们可以取巧,在自己的家长或者祖父母那里干活然后作为汇报;

2.会让学生们以后远离志愿者,因为现在是学校要求,他们为了获得回报才去这么做;

Listening:

1.学生自己的工作汇报只是检验工作的一部分,我们和学生工作地方的人联系,专业的机构(authority)还有官方的文件记载(officialdocument of the city )来保证;

Thereading and listening passages discuss the pros and cons about school requiringstudents to do voluntary jobs every week.

Thearticle claims that such requirement of school is useless. First of all,students can finish the task by free riding. For example, they can work fortheir parents or grandparents and write a report. Secondly, such policies willcause students no longer want to be volunteers in future. Because now thestudents do voluntary jobs under the requirement and in order to getretribution, they will build up such mind and no longer want to be truevolunteer. Thirdly, such requirement violates students’ right since the schoolhas no right to force students to do voluntary jobs, which is illegitimated.

Incomparison with the reading material, the professor asserts that the policy isgood for students and the reading passage makes no sense. To begin with, theworking reports are only part of how the job is examined. School will contactthe working places; authority and official document of the city will guaranteethe authenticity. Moreover, after working in the hospital or helping kids,students feel the voluntary jobs are powerful experiences, which motivate themto be volunteers insistently. Finally, the requirement is not a violation ofthe students’ rights. If math course can be required by school, why cannot thevoluntary jobs be part of curriculum? It is normal that students need toaccomplish the required curriculum if they come to school.

1.画里有大量动物主题,而且有些是当时首要狩猎对象,所以表现的都是狩猎场景;

2.有出现人身兽头的图像,认为是主角是猎人;

Listening:

1.洞穴里有大量的动物主题,但也有犀牛和猫,这两样不怎么被狩猎,还有根本就没出现驯鹿,这是那个时候最常被狩猎的动物,没有出现,所以动物主题和打猎不一定有关系;

2.人身兽头是因为当时的人们相信他们的祖先的灵魂会附在动物身上,为了和祖先交流,他们会举办一些仪式活动,这些兽头很可能是为了这种仪式才画上去的。而且说是猎人,那么打猎的活动猎人形象应该是站着的,可是画上的人是卧着的,所以这个解释站不住脚;

Reading:

1.对邮件进行过滤,这样就可不散布公司里面的机密;

2.从流媒体的角度来看,限制访问一些娱乐网站,但会花费比较大;

Listening:

1.过滤并没有很大的效果,那些想用邮件泄密的人,因为要是有员工真的想泄密的话,他们会倾向于用一些无关的词汇,过滤根本筛不出来的;

2.根本不应该花费那么多钱堵死所有的媒体。事实表明,这种流媒体10%有用,90%都没用。教授说应该只对一些大家常见的媒体网站,如流行音乐和视频截流就行了;

1. Do you agree ordisagree with the following statement? The food we ate in the past washealthier than the food we eat today.

Backin the days, the world suffered from instances of food-related issues such asshortage, sanitation, and nutritional content. Today, with the numerousadvances in related fields of technology, most if not all, of these problemsare just a memory of the past. Many claim, in particular, that the foods weconsume today are of a much higher quality, thereby making them healthier toeat. But is this certainly the case? I don’t think so.

Thelast time I checked, there were lots of fast food chains sprawling in ourcities and even in some suburban areas. In these places are common sights ofobese children and other unhealthy-looking consumers. It does not stop here.The situation gets worse. Remember the time that the price of staple food likerice was sky-high because of limited supply? Well, that’s not the case now.However, there were news reports showing that most of these food supplies,though plentiful, lack the necessary nutritional content. Certain varietieswere even proven to be harmful instead. Does the term Genetically ModifiedOrganisms (GMO) ring a bell? In spite of our efforts to produce agriculturalproducts with higher yield, the main concern seems to be this. Are we reallyeating healthier food now?

Foodfuels us. Depending on the quality of food we eat, our resistance to sickness,fatigue, and overall wellbeing is determined. Then how come most people noweasily get sick or die early? Yes, there are other factors to consider like airpollution and the likes. However, food forms the large proportion of ourrequirements for survival and daily accomplishment of our activities.

Thisbeing said, I firmly conclude that the foods we eat today are not as healthycompared to those in the past. Despite the advances of modern technology,certain by-products are inevitable. Thus, it is up to us to effectively filterwhat goes into our mouths lest we suffer from unhealthy foods’ effects.

2. Do you agree ordisagree with the following statement? The government should support artistsrather than allow them to support themselves.

论点:1. 如果有政府的支持,更多有天赋和热情的人会选择成为艺术家,而现在的事实是很多艺术家很难为生,如果没有政府的支持,他们的经济压力会很大;

2.如果有政府的支持,艺术家们就能有更多的时间和精力投入到他们喜欢的艺术品的创作,而不是为了维生,做一些无聊的工作;

3. Do you agree ordisagree with the following statement? In the past young people depended ontheir parents for making decisions. Today, young people are better able to makedecisions on their own.

论点:1. 过去获得信息的渠道有限,年轻人只能听家长的意见;

2.今天获得信息的渠道更广,这有利于做决定,而且接受教育也可以帮助他们做出决定;
