据估计每30个阿根廷人里就有一个人做过(整形)手术，这也使当地产生了世界上手术技巧最娴熟的一些整形医师，并因此吸引了大批医疗游客。
在上面的报道中，medical tourist就是“医疗游客”，指那些到技术精湛的国家就医，顺便到当地旅游的人。Medical tourism和medical travel都属于medical tour(医疗旅游)，但是和medical tourist不同，medical traveler(医疗旅者)是指那些因为危急疾病到国外求医的病人，一般没有闲情参观国外的名胜。相比之下，medical tourist所要治疗的都是不危及生命的身体缺憾，大部分时间都是在旅游。
现在tourism(旅游业)是许多国家的重要经济支柱，针对游客的各种服务也日趋完善。游客在出国前可以让tourist agency(旅行社)帮忙安排行程，出国时如果是package tour(跟团旅游)的话，要听从tourist guide(导游)的安排。当然你也可以选择self-organized tour/DIY tour(自助游)，但是要小心不要碰上tourist trap(敲游客竹杠的地方)。
